Now open, Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS @ Washington, DC is the newest Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS life science and healthcare incubator. The state-of-the-art site is open to entrepreneurs and innovators, and startups, focused on innovation across the healthcare spectrum, including pharmaceuticals, medical device, consumer and health tech.

In partnership with Children’s National Hospital (Children’s National), the 32,000-square foot facility is located at the new Children’s National Research & Innovation Campus. This Children’s National expansion is set on a nearly 12-acre portion of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center campus in the nation’s capital. This collaboration marks the second time the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies and Children’s National have teamed up to emphasize the importance of investing in the health and well-being of babies and children around the world.

Its proximity to federal research institutions and agencies, universities, and academic research centers aims to enable the new Children’s National campus to leverage the rich ecosystem of public and private sectors to help bolster biohealth, medical device, and life science innovation.

Biotech Incubator for CBRN and Infectious Diseases in Washington, DC

First introduced in conjunction with the launch of the Johnson & Johnson Innovation - JLABS ('JLABS') site opening in Washington, D.C., JLABS @ Washington, DC serves as the hub for Blue Knight. Created in collaboration with the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), a component of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Blue Knight is dedicated to anticipating potential health security threats, activating the global innovation community, and amplifying science and technological advancements with the aim to prepare for and respond to our rapidly evolving global health environment.

As we continue to combat 21st century health threats and emerging infectious diseases, the path to better prepared, protected, and healthy individuals, families, and communities may rely on unlocking the collective power of the global community.

Through expert programming and residency opportunities, Blue Knight aims to stimulate the innovation and incubation of science and technologies that may improve health security and response by supporting companies focused on public health threats and emerging infectious diseases.
