Our JLABS @ TMC story:
Everything is bigger in Texas, and JLABS @ TMC is no exception. With over 34,000 square feet of common, wet lab, and office space, our Houston site boasts the largest JLABS footprint in the US.
Our portfolio is as diverse as our hometown, with companies hailing from five countries, and seven states. Not only are our companies diverse, but so are their technologies. The JLABS @ TMC portfolio spans the breadth of life sciences with companies focused on oncology, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices, turning Houston into the true third coast of innovation.
To help our medical device companies and partners in the TMCx cohort and BioDesign program innovate faster, we recently renovated a ~1,000-square foot concept lab into a full-scale prototyping space, which includes specialized software, electronics testing and assembly equipment, rapid fabrication and 3D printing capabilities.
JLABS @ TMC is already linking regional entrepreneurs to the global subject matter experts internally at Johnson & Johnson Innovation, including opportunities to discuss funding, access third-party services, attend educational events and meet with R&D experts from our medical device, consumer healthcare and Janssen pharmaceutical teams. Like all of our sites, JLABS @ TMC has an open innovation, no-strings attached approach.

JLABS @ TMC includes opportunities for BLUE KNIGHT™ residency. Blue Knight is a joint initiative between Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). The collaboration aims to stimulate the innovation and incubation of science and technologies that may improve health security and response by supporting companies focused on public health threats and emerging infectious diseases. Every JLABS location features state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation and equipment—what new resident companies need to get up and running on day one.
This capital efficient model takes the time and investment needed for laboratory space out of the equation, eliminating the normal setup typically required of a start-up. We even provide training on equipment like 3D printers, UPLCs, FPLCs, FACs, among others.
