Our JLABS @ San Diego story:
In January 2012, San Diego became home to the flagship JLABS incubator site, launched by Johnson & Johnson at its Janssen West Coast Research Center.
Located in the heart of the Torrey Pines Mesa alongside world class research institutes, JLABS @ San Diego is home to over 60 resident biotech startup companies, and has over 70 alumni companies within its network.
JLABS @ San Diego life science lab space reflects the region’s leadership in the fields of genomics, precision medicine and the microbiome – with about 70% of resident biotech companies developing therapeutic solutions in these areas. Companies advancing consumer products, health tech, medical devices and cross sector solutions are also part of the vibrant JLABS @ San Diego resident and alumni community.
JLABS @ San Diego includes opportunities for BLUE KNIGHT™ residency. Blue Knight is a joint initiative between Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). The collaboration aims to stimulate the innovation and incubation of science and technologies that may improve health security and response by supporting companies focused on public health threats and emerging infectious diseases. Every JLABS location features state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation and equipment—what new resident start-up companies need to get up and running on day one.
This capital efficient model takes the time and investment needed for laboratory space out of the equation, eliminating the normal setup typically required of a start-up. We even provide training on equipment like UPLCs, FPLCs, FACs, among others.
